Back in July of 2001, there was a left-over relic from the days of the dot-com boom at the Banana Bungalow hostel in Waikiki: a kiosk where you could record a video and email it to 10 of your friends. Talk about Tomorrowland.

What the hell do you say in a 20 second video to 10 of your friends while you’re on a month long stint in Hawaii? We didn’t know and I still don’t know so as soon as the red light started blinking we just made jack-asses out of ourselves, which, in hind sight, was the best thing to do.

I ended up emailing the company just so I could get a copy of the video and I’ve saved it since. Lucky I did because now there’s YouTube and I have a blog.

The guy on the left is an accountant, the guy in the middle’s fighting in Iraq and the nerdy looking guy on the right is yours truly.

Notice the noogie, the wet willy and the Sea Captain McAllister quote… real mature guys.
